MLRRC Golden Spike Re-Enactment - Open to the Public

We will commemorate the 150th anniversary of the driving of the golden spike, an event which completed the first cross-continental railway in the United States uniting the Central Pacific with the Union Pacific. The program will include presentations, a birthday cake, operation of civil war era trains and Union Pacific equipment. Door prizes will be awarded. The event is free to the public. Donations greatly appreciated.

 

Schedule of Events:

  • 1:00 PM Opening and start of train operation

  • 2:00 PM Union Pacific engineer speaks on operations

  • 3:30 PM Birthday cake

  • 4:00 PM Amtrak conductor speaks on passenger operations

  • 5:30 PM Pizza and soda ($5.00 per person)

  • 6:00 PM History of military use of the railroads

  • 8:00 PM History of model and toy trains in Milwaukee
